Home Remedies For Body Rash

December 21, 2009

What is Body Rash?

In simple words, Body Rash refers to a skin irritation in which the irritated skin becomes dry, red and blistered. The pain increases with the severity of the rash. These rashes can be concentrated in one area or they can be widespread. Some Body Rashes can be contagious too.

Basically, these rashes involve a change in the color and texture of the skin. Allergies and infections are the most common causes of such rashes. The terms Skin Rash and Body Rash are often used interchangeably as both refer to the same medical condition.

For treatment, apart from the conventional medicines, the natural home remedies for Body Rash include a variety of safe and inexpensive remedial measures to provide quick relief. In addition to this, a very important precaution in terms of Body Rash is that it should never be bandaged so that the affected area gets sufficient air and ventilation. Plus, the affected area should not be exposed to direct sunlight and hot water.

Causes and Symptoms of Body Rash

The occurrence of Body Rash can be attributed to a number of factors. Chemicals present in dyes, cosmetics, soaps, detergents and perfumes may cause allergies in the skin and lead to Body Rash. Certain irritants, fabric allergies and food allergies too may lead to the same result. Besides, fungal, bacterial or viral infections in the form of Chicken Pox, Small Pox, Measles, and Cold Sores can help in the development of Body Rashes.

Skin diseases like Eczema, Dermatitis and Acne and autoimmune diseases like Psoriasis and Systematic Lupus Erythematosus also contribute in causing Body Rashes or Skin Rashes. Other factors include anxiety, lead poisoning, reaction to vaccination, pregnancy, exposure to sun or heat, dry skin and chafing.

Body Rashes are often characterized by red, dry scaly patches, lesions or inflammations. They may be accompanied by a burning sensation, itchiness and pain. At times, they resemble bruises and at times they resemble blisters. Some rashes may even have pus in them which can make them contagious. In severe cases, the patient may develop slight fever as well.

Diet for Body Rash

In order to facilitate the process of healing, the diet for Body Rash should positively include vitamin C rich fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits are particularly helpful in this regard. Experts believe that consumption of tomatoes, cucumbers and fruit juices are highly beneficial in the treatment of Body Rashes. Restrict the consumption of fermented foods such as pickles, yogurt and bread as they tend to aggravate the problem.

For the same reason, canned and processed foods with artificial preservatives should also be avoided as much as possible. Chicken and eggs are known to react adversely on Skin Rashes and hence they are best avoided at least until the rashes are cured. In addition to these restrictions, the patients should abstain from foods to which they are allergic.
